They classified the men according to their estimated omega-3 intake, and found that the men who consumed the most omega-3s from fish or fish oil were 63 percent less likely to have aggressive prostate cancer, compared to men with the lowest omega-3 intake. [1]

Maybe it’s time to return to tried and true benefits of the natural treatments that come right from our food.
Two studies presented at the December 2001 Interscience Conference on Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy (ICAAC) in Chicago suggest that medicines derived from natural garlic may provide a powerful new tool to combat these germs in the future. Supporters of natural medicine have long hailed garlic as a health-promoting herb, with anecdotal reports and scattered studies suggesting that it may lower cholesterol, fight infections and have other healing benefits.
One problem with developing and testing garlic-based treatments, however, has been that allicin is naturally unstable and has a strong garlic odor. Recent improvements in extraction and purification methods, however, have produced a natural form of allicin that is more stable and can be used in a variety of potential products, such as skin creams, soaps, and dietary supplements.
In the first study, according to British researchers that tested the effects of allicin in both a liquid and a cream form against a common antibiotic-resistant strain of Staph bacteria called MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus). The garlic preparations were tested in two strengths: a low concentration designed to inhibit the growth of harmful bacteria, and a high concentration thought to actually kill such bacteria. More than 88 percent of the samples responded to both the high and low concentration garlic formulas. The cream even showed higher levels of bacteria-fighting activity than some other commonly used antibiotic creams.
Another study presented at ICAAC found that an allicin solution was able to stop another powerful drug-resistant bacteria called VRE (vancomycin-resistant Entercoccus) from growing and spreading in laboratory tests. It had a bacteriostatic (bacteria-inhibiting) effect. It did not reduce the number of germs enough to be called bactericidal (bacteria-killing). This is consistent with the findings that garlic has antibacterial properties against a wide variety of organisms.
Scientists are now investigating using garlic to prevent the development of antibiotic-resistant infections. Candidates might include people who have impaired immune systems or those entering the hospital, where antibiotic-resistant germs tend to congregate. By giving these people garlic as a preventive, it might be possible to stop the infection from taking hold in the first place-rather than trying to use garlic to treat an infection that has already become out of control. These laboratory findings suggest there is great potential for garlic use as a microbe-fighting treatment, but human tests are needed before any recommendations can be made.
For myself I have included generous portions of garlic in my diet, raw and cooked. I always have at least one fresh garlic bulb on hand. When I get down to one, I usually buy some more. It’s still a good buy. For me most foods don’t just taste right unless they are flavored with garlic. I am fortunate that I am not bothered with an aftertaste. That seems to be true of all the foods that I eat. I might add that I do eat a strict Kosher diet. Maybe that has something to do with it.

Vitamin C and Cancer Treatment
It''s a well known fact that two out of every five Americans will develop some kind of cancer in their lifetime. And according to medical experts, chemotherapy (chemo) and radiation therapy still play a large role in the treatment of most cancers, despite their serious side effects.
In an article written by Dr. Christine Northrup, M.D., for Vital Choice, she states, "many doctors are under the impression that it's not safe to take vitamins while undergoing these treatments-and that vitamins, such as vitamin C, can actually render treatment less effective."
Dr. Northrup continues, "This has never made any sense to me given that supplements help healthy cells stay healthy and also improve overall immunity."
In 2007 there was a definitive study done called, "Antioxidants and Other Nutrients Do Not Interfere with Chemotherapy or Radiation Therapy and Can Increase Kill and Increase Survival."
The two part study, conducted by the Simone Protective Cancer Institute in New Jersey, shows that a single front-page interview (without scientific justification) in a 1997 edition of The New York Times, a single research paper involving mice, and a press release by its author LL led to the erroneous conclusion that vitamin C interfered with chemo and radiation in humans.
Concern was raised over the facts that antioxidants such as vitamin C neutralize free radicals, and most cancer treatments kill cancer cells by generating free radicals. Was one fighting the other?
"Oncologists observed that folic acid (an antioxidant) interferes with methotrexate (one type of chemo). Suddenly, doctors started to accept the unproved notion that this applied to all antioxidants and that taking any supplements or other nutrients would interfere with treatment," states Dr. Northrup.
According to the study, "non-prescription antioxidants and other nutrients actually enhance the ability of these modalities to kill cancer cells. They also help protect healthy tissue and decrease side effects."
I'm not a doctor or medical professional, so don't take my advice, but I do know how I feel when taking vitamin C and other supplements. Most vitamins and supplements will not have adverse affects on your body, but always talk to your doctor before taking supplements, especially if your under your doctors care and supervision.
My mom used to always say, "take vitamin C, it helps fight colds." I guess there is a lesson we can learn from our mothers.

Experiment. You need to find out what works for your body. If I do any kind of a leg workout they explode with growth. But, a friend of mine could work his legs for months and months and see nothing. So what you need to do is try everything and find what gives you the best results.

This is similar to the first weight loss tip, but it involves your diet. If you want to learn how to lose weight, you need to learn how to diet correctly! First of all just make smart choices. The next step is experiment and see what works for you. Some people can always drink soda and lose weight while some may take a sip and gain 5 pounds.
Look at your diet, analyse it, and slowly tweak it to get the best results!

Is B-12 Necessary?

Isn’t it interesting that a group of federal scientists are complaining to the Obama transition team of widespread leadership misconduct, in a division of the Food and Drug Administration.
The purpose of this complaint was to inform them that the scientific review process for medical devices at the FDA has been altered and misrepresented by current FDA managers, thereby placing the American people at risk.
The center is responsible for medical devices ranging from stents and breast implants to MRI’s and other imaging equipment. The concerns of the nine scientists who wrote to the transition team repeat some of the complaints from the FDA's drug review division a few years ago during the safety debacle involving the painkiller Vioxx. The FDA declined to publicly respond to the letter, but said it is working to address the concerns.
The FDA dissidents indicated that agency managers use intimidation to inhibit scientific debate, leading to the approval of medical devices whose effectiveness is questionable and which possibly may not be entirely safe. Managers with incompatible, discordant and irrelevant scientific and clinical expertise in devices...have ignored serious safety and effectiveness concerns of FDA experts. Managers have ordered, intimidated and coerced FDA experts to modify scientific evaluations, conclusions and recommendations in violation of the laws, rules and regulations, and to accept clinical and technical data that is not scientifically valid.
A copy of notice, with the names of the scientists redacted, was provided to The Associated Press by a congressional official. Currently, there is an atmosphere at FDA in which the honest employee fears the dishonest employee, and not the other way around, the scientists wrote.
FDA spokeswoman said in response that we have been working very closely with members of the transition team and any concerns or questions they have on any issue, we will address directly with the team. Separately, the agency is actively engaged in a process to explore the staff members' concerns and take appropriate action.
Senior Democratic and Republican lawmakers are urging Obama to appoint a commissioner who will shake up the FDA and restore the confidence of its working-level scientists and medical experts. But industry officials fear that approval of new drugs and devices could be delayed by endless scientific disputes — which is the agency's reputation.
The FDA dissidents have previously taken their concerns to Congress and found support from lawmakers in the House
. In this report the group picked out mammography computer-aided detection devices as an example of a technology that should not have continued. The devices were supposed to improve breast cancer discovery, but instead studies show they were connected with false alarms that led to excessive and unnecessary breast biopsies.
Since 2006, FDA experts have recommended five times against approving the devices without better clinical evidence, the letter said. In March of last year, a panel of outside advisers supported some of the concerns of the FDA's in-house scientists. Even so the FDA managers overruled the objections and ordered approval.
Top FDA managers committed the most outrageous misconduct by ordering, coercing and intimidating FDA physicians and scientists to recommend approval, and then retaliating when the physicians and scientists refused to go along," the letter said. A spokeswoman said the Obama transition team had no comment.
Has it reached where the BUCK stops? Can we look for more progress in this area? One way to get rid of rats is to exterminate them. We can only hope. 12 to 20 years ago we have had the most corrupt people in our highest offices. This is where the problem needs to be addressed and weed out that kind of corruption. I have always thought the idea of owning a franchise business was a goal worth working toward. But buying a franchise business can cost a lot of money, not only to purchase the business, but to continue paying the parent company for the use of the franchise.
There are many work from home businesses that are like a franchise home business, only they don't cost a lot to get going, and instead of paying the parent company to be part of their franchise system, you are paid by the parent company for helping build their business and market their products.
Many years ago I was able to work from home because of a good business built with a company called Formor International. This network marketing company had a unique compensation plan that paid high commissions for the second level, or tier, of marketers in your downline, which encouraged people to build under their downline, which put those people into profit more quickly and strengthened the group.

Many of us made enough income from this work from home business that we were able to take that one minute commute and work at our computers all day, never having to hop in a car and drive to an office. One day those in my upline decided, for some reason I still don't understand, to quit working with this company and move to another one... starting over to build a new distributor base and income stream. When my upline and many of my downline deserted me, I thought of simply moving on, too. But I had a lot of customers in my group and good income from those customers.

WORK AT HOME – DON’T BUY LEADS
I thought I'd share a few tid-bits of information about choosing to work at home,traffic portals, generating leads and lead generation that I have acquired during the past couple of weeks. This could be of particular interest to anyone starting a home based business.
First, I think it's important to reveal that, as I go about my V*eret*ekk work on what is now a daily basis, I realise more and more how far I have come in the past 12 months. Not only has my knowledge increased substantially since upgrading to the GOLD system my chances of survival working from home and making a decent business online are ten times what they were before I began - and getting better everyday! I have to tell you that this, by itself has brought about a big change in my attitude towards what I do online and how I work at home – especially with respect to leads and lead generation and how I do it.
In addition to this I've joined a team! - It's called "Its Good Business' and through this I've been able to direct my effort more accurately and develop a clear vision of where I want to be going.
Coupled with this I've been able to reflect on the lifetime skills acquired and and mould them into my Internet marketing business. Boy does that make me feel good! Not only is the fog starting to clear but momentum is building - I like that. There's no doubt that since I determined I should become an online trainer also, I have become more aware of what matters to newbies and that enables me to structure the delivery of my sessions a little better. Without exception, people who work at home who attend those sessions leave me saying how much they enjoyed the experience and how much more there is to online marketing than they ever thought! This is especially true in terms of helping them generate leads.
So it is- even for those of us who've been in the community for sometime. There’s still new things we learn about the amazing system developed by Thomas Prendergast and Mike Darling. Sometimes I think of it as though we are all living on a massive, self-controlled galactic spacecraft - filled with a honeycomb of living spaces where we all work. For the most part we visit only the areas we have to or know of in order to achieve our immediate needs - blasts some ads, submit to Google or even send a Bully Pulpit email out once a week.
Occasionally, when we get to move to a different part of the craft we discovery other interesting aspects and capabilities, meet new people, we marvel and jump for joy at the realisation of being a 'super-structure' that can journey anywhere, take on anything and be confident of success - regardless of the 'enemy'. Joining Its Good Business recently was like this. Another adventure - making the decision to work at home a wise one. I'd like to go a little more deeply into sharing my thoughts as to why I see things this way it because in this business I buy customers - not leads!
I always thought- when I first joined V*eret*ekk that being able download 30,000 plus leads FR**EE every month was great - for I had plenty of occasions where I spend good money and heaps of time on the telephone talking to so-called 'Fresh-Leads' which proved to be anything BUT that ! I've often reflected that even 1,000 - 2,000 of these FR**EE leads is more effective than any others I have purchased.
So when Mike Darling announced the monetising of FREEFFAS.com I jumped in to the UPGRADE. Why? Well for just $10 per month I could download around 60,000 - 80,000 fresh leads and even get a commission if others came to my site and opted for the same chance! It got even better when I realised I could first 'join up under my self' and receive a commission for doing so! That way I became my own first customer - how good is that? As if the FreeFFas.co upgrade wasn't enough, I- like hundreds - possibly thousands of others who work at home really started to jump for joy when Mike Darling announced a similar upgrade for Blastomatic. This system, which has for many been seen as the best FR**EE tool in the company's arsenal - not only is the best way to blast ads to 12 Million sites, it now delivers FR**ee leads too! Wow! -it just gets better and better - especially when you can upgrade and receive 5000 +leads per day for just $14.95 per month.
All this sounds great for those who work at home (and it is) but allow me put this a bit more into perspective with TWO instances that that I can relate to and make comparisons.
First of all, through a colleague I learnt about an auto-responder system that had a special 30 days Trial offer for $99.00 and 100,000 leads. Now get this; After 30 Days the monthly charge is $195.00 - number of leads involved - 100,000!!
What I quickly learned was this:
* For the Trial I only had 50,000 leads to play with
* The auto-responder - loaded with a set of generic emails - didn't really suit the products I wanted to promote ! To change the emails would have cost me about two days work!
* The Auto-responder was User – “un-friendly”! - in fact, after 3 weeks, I still have difficulty in understanding much of it's functions and 'Help 'text !
* So far as I can see, I have 'hooked' only 7 people after 21 days BUT... - I don't know who they are - no information as to which email offer they responded to - I can't single them out for further 'special attention'!
After 2 weeks working with the 50,000 leads, I received additional leads - (125 to be exact). 'Well', I thought 'I wonder how good these will be'?
I started phoning the leads and within the first 10 calls to people on the list I was told by 2 people that they had never been consulted or ever agreed to particiate insuch a list!
As an incomplete exercise this has reminded me of something I have known for a while which is, when buying leads from anywhere - other than V*eret*ekk; you just don't get anywhere near the same freshness,value and quality. Just consider the results of this little exercise:
100,000 leads @ $99.00 = 10 CENTS per lead (That's TEN times the cost of V*eret*ekk leads Strike - rate has been 7 - but I don't know anymore - they could be 'Clicks' for all I know. I certainly haven't noticed a significant jump in my earnings this month! So thus far these '7 HITS' have cost me $10.60 each and my frustration and 'personal downtime' amounts to 7-8 hours. Worst part is - I can't even define these 'hits' as leads!
Now, lets compare that with another new opportunity which costs $49.95 per month :
* So the cost per lead has been - 6 weeks = $74.94 / 1800 (50% bounce-backs) leads = 4 CENTS per lead
* There have been 13 sign-ups - at a cost of $5.76 each
* Of the 13 sign-ups 2 have become Affiliates - so the cost per Affiliate so far is $$37.44
Against this the Income from sales has been $49.95. - a net loss of $24.99. I'm thinking at the moment that if another sale comes in during the remaining 2 weeks, I may at least break even!
Now previously, since at least 50 % of the emails sent bounce back I might have decided to stick with it a little longer as I would have considered the cost per actual lead as 'tolerable', but what have the leads from Ve*re*tekk yielded?
Well so far as I can make out (because these leads get spread over a large number and variety of opportunities) I have spent the following:
* Upgrade on Free FFas.com - Cost $10.00 Less commission on sign-up $5.00 = $5.00
* Number of leads harvested so far - 140,000 so cost per lead is $5.00 / 140,000 = Less than HALF a CENT per lead ! Upgrade on Blastomatic.com Cost $14.95 Less commission on sign-up =$5.00 = $9.95/4 (weeks) =$ 2.48
* Number of leads harvested so far - 60,000 so cost per lead is $2.48 / 60,000 = Less than HALF a CENT each!
Total expenditure FREEFFas and Blastomatic (to date) = $ $2.48 + $5.00 = $7.48
Number of leads processed ....................................= 140,000 + 60,000 = 200,000
KNOWN Income .......................................................= $160.00
profit / Loss ............................................................= $160.00 - $7.48 = $152.52 Profit.
Considering these leads have been measured over less than one month they are BY FAR the BEST Value - when compared to the two other sources and promise an even better yield given time but guess what..? Since joining Its Good Business I don't buy leads anymore - I buy Customers!

Work at Home - best increased fuel costsYesterday I heard the news which is all too common these days and caused me to reflect on why starting a home based business - so I could work at home- is such a good idea - the price of petrol has just gone up AGAIN!
There's no doubt that as the world changes, populations increase, demands for fossil fuels and, power, water and all the other necessities of life increase the cost of living causing many professional and hourly-paid workers to give serious consideration to work at home. Now, perhaps more than ever before to work at home is becoming a very real choice for the average 'joe' struggling to keep pace with the torrent of increased living costs. Of course, to a large extent it all depends on the "comfort level" experienced.
What I mean by that is if I'm a sales executive enjoying a better-than average salary, operating and having private use of a company car, mobile phone, medical protection plan etc. giving that up to work at home might just be a pipe dream.
However, a feature of modern day business is that 'nothing is for certain anymore' meaning that even so called successful companies can go to the wall - almost overnight. So, comfort levels can change very quickly and each time it does the person directly involved often finds themselves re-thinking their options and to work at homegest plenty of attention.
I know, it's happened to me and I didn't see it coming either!
One day I was riding high in a new sole-charge position going about my business throughout the whole of the country when out of the blue I get a telephone call that changed my life forever. Even then I didn't immediately think about choosing to work at home.I felt confident that I could find another job, after all, "I had skills"! I had always been 'a very employable person' and could see no reason why I wouldn't be as lucky as before.
But often in today's circumstances things change all the time - seruptitiously and often go un-noticed until one day, you look up and suddenly become aware that the change has been terminal. There's no way back.
Now this is a hard fact to swallow at anytime. But nothing strikes home more than Job Loss and in the USA in 2008 there's going to be plenty of it - caused by all kinds of reasons. Oh sure, there'll be a lot of people who'll think as I did.That "something else will come along, another chance, another opportunity. But for many people it will be a profound turning point in their lives. To these people I say, "Think about Noah - he got a message and prepared himself well for what was coming"!
Can work at home be a saviour? The answer to that depends very much on your attitude and your ability to adapt - because being able to adapt become essential! Twenty plus years ago, we could be forgiven for thinking that the computers were not going to rule our lives but increasingly what do we see? Suddenly EVERYTHING seems to be driven by a computer.
When I was a kid in England, I hadn't even heard of a computer unitl I was in my teens.
Fast forward twenty years and I recall a very important message being delivered by the CEO of our company one day. That message came from an entrepreneur, an astute businessman - from whom I learned much in the ensuing 15 years. The message was that "The company was aiming to computerise the management processes wherever possible and as senior staff members we should decide to move with the times or face an uncertain future".
I have never forgot that day. It made a huge impact on me because soon afterwards I went out and purchased a computer "For my kids to play with". But secretly I had taken the message to heart - not for the purpose or intention to work at home but to do my best to stay a head of the game and remain employed!
I am revealing this information for a reason. If you haven't thought of choosing towork at home - I strongly suggest that you do so!
Where to start? Well there's many possible answers to that but from my experience I would recommend FOUR key courses of action:
Avoid jumping into 'get rich quick' schemes - they're too plentiful once you learn how to boot up your computer and go online. You'll be inundated with them and they'll suck up your cash real quick - with nothing in return.

Work from HomeAs I am a successful stay at home mother, as well as part of an ever growing organization of home school parents. Lately, I have noticed a real need within this community, not to mention, an even greater need all across this great country of ours called America!
That is the ability to work from home and raise our children. Although I am part of a group of home schooling parents, as together we are taking control of our children’s lives, aspiring to create a better tomorrow through the youth of today. Work from home, many opportunity
Whether you're looking to contribute to your family's finances or earn some cash to cover special or unexpected expenses, many people want more ways to work from home.
There are as many reasons to want to work from home as there are people. There are the big ones already mentioned, but there are others as well. In the society we live in today many parents are upset by the education system offered for educating their children, and want to do it the old fashioned way, home school their children. There are many advantages to home schooling your children, but that is for another article. The point is if you work from home you can home school your children if you choose to do so.
Don't limit yourself solely to responding to advertised openings. Sometimes the best way to land a home-based job is by calling someone you'd like to work for and offering your services.
Or you need to start thinking outside the box. Take a note pad and start listing the things your good at, things that are of interest to you. For now list everything that comes to mind. It doesn't matter if you think you can do the work from home or not, for now we are just making a list
Think also of what type of work from home you want to do. For example do you want to work from home in a brick and mortar type business, like catering or pet sitting. Or do you want to work from home in a business that it totally on-line, done on the internet? Or a combination of both? Keep adding to your list, but now you need to make a decision as to the type of work from home you want to do, on-line or off line. And after you have made your decision you can go back to your list & start refining it.
When you have 4 or 5 top choices for your work from home list you need to research each of them. Important to remember is that all of them are things you are interested in. I'll tell you flat out if you try to work from home, doing something your not interested in or do not like it will be very, very difficult to be successful.
Do your homework, research your top 4 or 5 and see what others are offering and more importantly see what they are lacking, see what could be improved, see what is missing and then provide that missing element.
It takes hard work, dedication, and a strong resolve to work from home and be successful, but the rewards make it all worth while.

Work From Home: Moms
With fuel costs on the rise, to work from home just makes sense. Plus, what about the high price that's being paid in the human sense when children become latch-key kids or husbands and wives become virtual strangers or like ships passing in the night in an effort to generate enough income to support themselves and their families? More and more, single moms or dads and parents are looking for ways to work from home and to get out of what I call "racing with the rats".
Having been a single mom for years, I spent a tremendous amount of time away from my daughter between the commute to and from my jobs and many hours each day and every week at my jobs themselves. I worked for multiple employers, sometimes up to 80 hours per week (not counting commute time). I felt at times as if my daughter was being raised by pre-schools, teachers, after school programs and babysitters. Much of what I earned often went to pay the schools and babysitters, as well as for many other costs incurred. I'd have given anything to be able to stop this insanity. I longed for the day I could either find a way to not work at all or find a way to just work from home. Now in most households, both the husband and wife have to work to provide the necessary financial support to sustain their families.
Back in 1996, I finally broke the seemingly unending cycle of trading my time for money and working for others away from home. I've now worked from home for years, and what I've learned is that it just makes more sense. Not only do I have more time and financial freedoms and control over the choices and decisions I make, but I earn more, save more and I have tremendous tax advantages that I never had when working for someone else.
When deciding whether to work from home or the alternative, the choice for me is simple. In hindsight, I'd have given anything to have spent more time at home when my daughter was growing up. The fact that I could not work from home took a tremendous toll on my relationship with my daughter and my marriage.

Work From Home: Benefits
For years, I've been fortunate enough to work from home. This became a necessity at a point when I needed to care for my mother, and now once again as my employment is as a full-time, live-in caregiver. I am able to supplement my salary as a caregiver by working from home, and because of the tremendous tax benefits from having my own home-based business, I can shelter my primary income due to many write-offs that I wouldn't have otherwise if I worked outside the home.
As I always say, I have a 30-second commute in the morning to the kitchen to put on the coffee, and if I choose to do so, I can work in my pajamas … no alarm clock, no having to get up 1-2 hours early to make sure I can get ready and be to work on time, no fighting traffic nor having to pay those high prices at the gas pumps, no contributing to pollution or global warming, NO BOSS telling me what to do, no having to punch a time clock, no having to cram in doing chores and necessities of life on my lunch hours, before or after work or on my days off … been there and done that for many years and I really resented feeling like my family had to take a back seat to my employment and the many hours each day and week that I was actually away from my home and family due to my work schedule. There were times when I was working sometimes as many as 80 hours a week plus commute … this left very little time for anything else, plus it always seemed that the more I made, the more the government took in taxes. To work from home just makes perfect, logical sense to me.
Working from home, I am now able to set my own schedule, take breaks when I feel like it, take time off when I want to without having to ask permission. I can earn as much or as little as I choose … if I want to earn more, I just do more. Plus, with the business model I've chosen, I am building long-term, residual ongoing income and continual growth, a solid foundation and stability in my business. I can do business anywhere in the world via the telephone or over the internet. When working from home, I can also choose the people I work with versus being stuck in a dead-end, go nowhere job, cooped up in an office sitting side-by-side in a cubicle with someone I am in no way compatible with.
When deciding whether to work from home or the alternative, the choice for me is simple. The personal freedoms with respect to my time and having total control over my financial destiny make this my ONLY choice.
